Here's How You Script To Go Viral

I used to hate scripting videos word for word.

But then I learned why you do and it changed everything.

Scripting allows you to:

  • Cut all fluff

  • Pick the best words in every scenario

  • Make sure what you wrote is easily understandable

So now I script everything, and my content is a hundred times better.

Here’s exactly how I script my videos:

1) Ideation

Every good video begins with an idea.

You should have an endless list of them, but if you don’t.

Download the Notion App and create an “Idea Lab” where you note every unique:

Idea

Story

Lesson

Thought

Concept

This will become the backbone of your content.

Aim to generate 3-5 ideas per day in the beginning so you have an endless bank of ideas.

Now it’s on to writing.

2) Hook

When you are writing down your ideas in your lab, you should also note any good hooks that come to mind.

But what’s in a good hook?

An implied information gap.

For example, “Here’s the best way to write hooks for videos”.

I’m not directly saying, “You need to know this tip for writing hooks”.

I’m just casually giving the information as a gift, and it’s implied not directly spoken.

So as you start writing your hooks answer these questions:

  • Do I have an implied information gap?

  • Do I frame this information as a gift?

  • Can I deliver on my hook?

To imply an information gap, most good hooks use words like “here’s” and “this”.

“Here’s” frames it as a gift.

“This” temporarily hides the information so you can deliver it to those who want to keep watching. (The information gap)

Now let’s talk about delivering on your hook.

3) Delivery

The hook is genuinely perceived as being more important than what comes after.

But I believe a good hook should be followed up by a strong delivery on the hook.

So let’s do that together using the best framework I know.

The what, why, how framework.

Here are the 3 questions you need to answer:

  • What is this about?

  • Why does it matter?

  • How can someone do it?

If you are speaking in terms of problems and benefits, which you should always do.

Then you will be teaching how to avoid problems, and achieve benefits in your content.

So you can use the what, why, how framework to do this.

Here’s how it should look start to finish:

“Here’s the best way to write hooks for videos to go viral:

First, you need a strong hook that implies a gap in information.

You can do this by using the word “this” to temporarily hide the value from your audience.

Then, you need to frame it as a gift.

You do this by using the word “here’s”, as if to say, “here’s this gift”.

Save this video so you can use it in your next piece of content, and drop a follow.”

Here’s the simple breakdown:

“Here’s the best way to write hooks” - This is the “what”

“For your videos to go viral” - This is the “why”

Everything else except for the last line which is the call to action - This is the “how”

That is how you use the what, why, how framework.

A call to action is not needed at the end of every short form video.

But if you do want to use one, here’s one I use a lot.

“Save this video to (achieve benefit), and drop a follow.”

These three steps will take your videos from average to the top 1%.

If you want to take your entire brand and business from average to the top 1%.
